Steps to Allow PING to Palo Alto Firewall Interface: Basic Configuration Guide

Topology Used -

Log in to the firewall.

First, modify the management interface profile to allow PING. To do this, navigate to the 'Network' tab, click on 'Interface Management,' then assign a name to the profile and enable PING.

Navigate to the 'Virtual Router' tab and assign a name to it (I have named it VR01). Then, click 'OK'.

Navigate to the 'Interface' section and click on the interface (Ethernet1/1). Add a comment for the interface, set the interface type, select the virtual router, and choose the security zone from the dropdown. Then, click 'OK'.

Navigate to the 'IPv4' tab and assign the IP address.

Navigate to the 'Advanced' tab, set the link state to 'UP,' and select 'PING' from the management profile.

Apply the same settings to the Ethernet 2/2 interface.

1. Commit all the changes.

2. Verify from R1 and R2 whether you can ping the neighbor IPs.

Initially, I was unable to ping the neighbor IPs. However, after committing all the changes, I am now able to successfully ping the neighbor IPs. Please see the snapshot below.

With the configurations successfully applied and the ping test passing, your Palo Alto firewall is now ready for further setup and testing. I hope this guide was helpful in configuring your firewall and network.
